ASFC 2025: 'We didn't come to play' - Ghana coach cautions South Africa ahead of semis clash

Joyce Boatey-Agyei is the head coach of Ghana's U-15 girls team. She has issued a warning to South Africa before their match at the 2025 CAF African Schools Football Championship.

The two teams will meet in the semifinals. Ghana finished first in Group A, while South Africa was second in Group B.

Ghana won all three of their group stage games. They defeated Morocco, Benin, and Malawi. South Africa lost their opening match to Uganda but recovered well.

"This is a morale booster for our players," Boatey-Agyei said after the final group game. "We haven't come to play," she added.

She emphasized that Ghanaians' hopes are with them. "We have to handle it with care and make them happy."

Ghana will face the defending champions, South Africa. Ghana won the last edition in Tanzania by beating Morocco in the final.

Boatey-Agyei's team boasts an impressive defensive record. They have not conceded any goals during the tournament.

However, they must be cautious of South Africa's strong offense. The team scored 13 goals in their last two matches against DR Congo and Gambia.

The semifinal games will start at 14:00 GMT on Friday, April 25, at the University of Ghana Stadium.
