ASFC 2025: CAF concludes Young Reporters Workshop in Accra

The Young Reporters Workshop concluded on Friday, April 26, in Accra. This event was part of the 2025 CAF African Schools Football Championship (ASFC).

Thirty participants took part in this capacity-building programme. It was held at the University of Ghana Stadium over five days.

Ibrahim Sannie Daara and Thabang Mazibuko from CAF Communications facilitated the workshop. Romain Hussonnois and Anta Guindo from Canal+ also contributed. Michael Oti-Adjei from Media General guided the participants as well.

This programme is one of six CAF capacity-building initiatives supported by Canal+. Four selected graduates will receive internship opportunities with Canal+ next year.

The initiative aims to make African football globally competitive and self-sustaining. It provides young media talents with international experience and mentorship. These tools help shape authentic narratives about African football.

The CAF Young Reporters Programme nurtures future storytellers of African football culture. It is a key part of CAF’s youth development strategy.

Luxolo September, Head of TV and Communications at CAF, attended the final day. He offered advice to aspiring African journalists.

“This programme is about more than just journalism,” said September. “It’s about telling the African story through African voices.”

He expressed pride in working with Canal+ to support these young individuals. “These are the storytellers of tomorrow,” he added, emphasizing CAF's commitment to their growth.
