The African Union Advisory Board Against Corruption (AUABC) will visit Ghana. The review mission is scheduled from June 1 to June 6, 2025. This mission aims to assess Ghana’s compliance with the African Union Convention on Preventing and Combating Corruption (AUCPCC).
Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Shamima Muslim announced the mission in Accra on May 27. She highlighted Ghana’s leadership in strengthening anti-corruption systems. The review will evaluate progress and celebrate achievements. It will also identify recommendations to improve effectiveness and public trust.
“This is a chance to reaffirm our commitment to ethical governance,” said Shamima Muslim. The AUABC delegation will arrive in Ghana on Sunday, June 1. They will engage with key institutions throughout the week.
These engagements include consultations with government agencies and civil society organizations. Key participants include the Office of the President, Ministry of Justice, and CHRAJ. The mission will end with a High-Level National Anti-Corruption Conference on June 6.
This conference will take place at the Accra International Conference Centre. Its theme is “Revitalising the Anti-Corruption Architecture in Africa: Ghana’s Accountability Journey.” AU officials, legal experts, policymakers, and citizens will discuss strategies for transparency.
Muslim reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to fighting corruption during this process. She noted that it reinforces solidarity and mutual accountability among nations. The fight against corruption requires participation from leaders, citizens, and institutions alike.
The AUABC mission aims to provide insights into Ghana’s anti-corruption framework. It also seeks to foster peer learning among African nations.
