The African University of Communications and Business (AUCB) has appointed Frank B. Adu Jr. as its first Chancellor. This follows the recent granting of a Presidential Charter to the university.

Mr. Adu is a respected Ghanaian leader with a strong background in banking, education, governance, and civic life. His appointment shows AUCB's commitment to excellence and integrity in today's changing world.

Adu has over three decades of experience in banking, corporate leadership, education, and community service. He was the Managing Director and CEO of CAL Bank PLC for 20 years, leading it through significant growth.

He is known as one of Ghana’s most respected financial experts. In addition to finance, Adu serves on several boards including Legacy Bonds Limited and Quality Insurance Company Limited.

He is also the Chairman and Co-Founder of The Roman Ridge School, a top private school in Ghana. His dedication to education earned him an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Ghana in 2013.

In 2021, he received an Honorary Membership from the Ghana Institute of Architects for his support in architectural development. Adu is currently President and Chair of the Board at Achimota Golf Club.

He has also served as Captain and President of the Accra Polo Club, showing his passion for sports and community involvement. As Chancellor of AUCB, he will help shape its future.

His goal is to support AUCB’s mission to train ethical leaders in communications and business. His passion for mentoring aligns with AUCB’s vision for skilled graduates who lead with integrity.

AUCB offers postgraduate, undergraduate, diploma, and professional development courses. It was established as the Africa Institute of Journalism and Communications (AIJC) in 2002 by Hon. Kojo Yankah.

Initially offering a Diploma in Communication Studies, it gained accreditation as a tertiary institution in 2004. In 2007, AIJC became AUCC after receiving approval to offer BA degrees.

It was the first university college in Africa specializing in Journalism and Communication Studies. Since 2010, AUCB has expanded to include BSc programs in Business Administration along with postgraduate programs.

In 2024, it received a Presidential Charter allowing it to offer academic programs and degrees officially. To enhance learning and research, AUCB has established three centres:

- Kwabena Nketia Centre for African Studies
- Ama Ata Aidoo Center for Creative Writing
- Business and Professional Development Centre
