Ghanaian football legends Abedi Ayew (Pele) and Asamoah Gyan are now Ambassadors for the 2025 CAF African Schools Football Championship. This event will take place in Accra from April 21-26 at the University of Ghana Stadium.
Their appointment recognizes their significant contributions to Ghanaian and African football. It also highlights their commitment to mentoring young talent.
Abedi Pele is a three-time African Footballer of the Year. He captained the Black Stars and won the 1982 AFCON. He led Ghana to the final in 1992 and won a UEFA Champions League title with Olympique Marseille.
Asamoah Gyan is Ghana’s all-time top scorer, with 51 goals in 109 matches. He previously served as an ambassador for this tournament's second edition. Gyan helped Ghana win silver medals at the AFCON in 2010 and 2015, and he played in three FIFA World Cups.
In their new roles, Abedi Pele and Asamoah Gyan will promote the championship. They aim to inspire young players and support youth football development across Africa. Their involvement adds prestige to the tournament and motivates aspiring footballers.
