Foreign Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa is facing intense backlash on social media over Vice President Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang’s medical trip abroad.
Critics accuse him of hypocrisy, recalling his past opposition to government officials seeking healthcare outside Ghana.
In 2020, Ablakwa insisted that all politicians should use local medical facilities, yet he now plays a role in facilitating the Vice President’s trip.
Social media users have also called out figures like Kofi Asare, Prof. Yaw Gyampo, and even President John Mahama for their past statements against medical travel.
While some acknowledge that specialized care abroad is sometimes necessary, the uproar stems from what many see as a pattern of political double standards when in power.
