Dr. Rashid Tanko-Computer is the Deputy Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC). He has criticized the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Members of Parliament for protesting the delayed Ablekuma North election results.
On June 4, he spoke to Citi Eyewitness News about this issue. Dr. Tanko-Computer believes the Inspector General of Police (IGP) should have dismissed their petition. He argued that legal action should have been taken against the protesting MPs.
“They should be dismissed with contempt,” he stated. “The IGP should have arrested them.” He claimed that the actions of the NPP MPs were close to criminality during result collation from 59 out of 62 polling stations.
He mentioned that some presiding officers refused to authenticate scanned copies of pink sheets submitted by the NPP due to discrepancies. “Some presiding officers were running away from their scanned copies,” he alleged.
Dr. Tanko-Computer referenced live footage showing a presiding officer rejecting a scanned copy with a rejected ballot figure. He insisted this figure was not in the original pink sheet. Another officer reportedly denied signing the document, raising concerns about possible electoral fraud.
“That means some level of criminality was conducted by the NPP,” he added.
