The Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association has refuted claims by the Alliance of Drivers – Ghana that rising spare parts prices are behind the planned 20% fare hike set for March 17, 2025.
In a statement on March 16, the association described the assertion as “false and misleading.” Chairman Henry Okyere Jnr. clarified that spare parts prices remain unchanged, with no increase in import duties or market shifts to justify the claim.
He emphasized that stock levels are stable, and the new government remains supportive of the spare parts industry.
The association urged transport unions to base fare adjustments on factual economic conditions and called on the public to disregard the misleading claims.
