A recent study by the African Center for Quality Journalism and Research has revealed that 64.4% of Ghanaians do nothing when encountering fake news, with no effort to protest or caution others.

The two-month-long research, conducted between October and November 2024, found that while 89.2% of respondents had encountered fake news, only 35.6% comment on such stories, 19.7% report them, and 7.6% share them with friends.

The study also highlighted that 68.2% of participants verify fake news through credible websites, while 19.7% use Google.

Television is the most trusted source of news, followed by online websites, with radio being the least trusted.

The report also examined the impact of disinformation on the 2024 elections.
