President John Dramani Mahama has named Abraham Amaliba as the Acting Director-General of the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA), effective January 23, 2025.
Amaliba, who also serves as the National Democratic Congress' (NDC) Director of Conflict Resolution, takes on this role under Article 195(1) of the Constitution and Act 993 of the National Road Safety Authority Act, pending formal advice from the Authority’s Board in consultation with the Public Services Commission.
In a statement signed by Dr. Callistus Mahama, Secretary to the President, Amaliba was notified of his appointment and given 14 days to confirm his acceptance.
President Mahama extended congratulations, expressing confidence in Amaliba's ability to strengthen road safety management in Ghana. Key stakeholders, including the Vice President and Transport Minister, have been informed of the appointment.
