Abuakwa South MP commends security agencies for swift rescue of kidnapped woman

Dr. Kingsley Agyemang, the MP for Abuakwa South, praised Ghana’s security agencies. They quickly rescued a young woman who was kidnapped in the constituency. The operation involved the Ghana Police Service and National Security.

In a public statement, Dr. Agyemang commended their efforts. He said, “Your dedication and tactical excellence in rescuing the victim are commendable.” He also thanked the local support group, Proudly Asiakwan, for their solidarity during this crisis.

While celebrating the successful rescue, he urged residents to stay vigilant. “Let this incident remind us that threats can arise unexpectedly,” he cautioned. He encouraged parents and guardians to be especially alert.

Dr. Agyemang reaffirmed his commitment to improving local security infrastructure. He aims to collaborate with stakeholders to prevent similar incidents in the future. “We must work together for a safer community,” he emphasized.

The rescued victim is currently safe and receiving care.

Background

A 39-year-old woman from Asiakwa was allegedly kidnapped by unknown men. Ama Serwaa Konadu is a popular hairdresser and event decorator in the area. She was abducted on Tuesday, April 22, while leaving home for work.

Her abductors released nude videos of her through her phone the next day. They assaulted her with a machete in these videos. They claimed to be holding her in Nigeria and demanded a GH₵500,000 ransom for her release.

The family reported the kidnapping to the Ghana Police Service and other agencies. They provided all available videos to assist with investigations.
