Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has a message for the Black Stars players. He encourages them to accept public criticism as part of their job. This criticism can serve as motivation to improve their performance.
The national team has faced intense scrutiny in recent years. Underperformance has sometimes created a gap between players and fans. However, recent successes have rekindled support and enthusiasm for the team.
In an interview with Umaru Sanda Amadu on Channel One TV’s Face to Face, Minister Adams spoke about this issue. He stated that criticism is normal in professional sports. Players should not take it personally.
"My message to the players is simple: the country is behind you," he said. "Yes, we will criticize you." He added that if everyone only praised them, it would be unusual.
Adams explained that criticism often comes from a small group of people. Many supporters may remain quiet but still offer praise. "Some must voice concerns regardless of consequences," he noted.
He advised players to remember that positive feedback often goes unreported. "If you hear criticisms, multiply that by a hundred," he said. This reflects how many people are actually praising them in silence.
