Accountability must be sincere—Hamza Adam takes on NPP over Sammy Gyamfi issue

Deputy Minister and MP Hamza Adam defended the government's stance on accountability. He dismissed the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) calls for investigations as insincere and politically motivated.

Speaking on Metro TV's Good Morning Ghana, he emphasized the government's commitment to probity and accountability. These values are central to their principles.

Hamza stated, “We are not against any group or individual seeking accountability.” He believes that governance should focus on these ideals.

He expressed disappointment in the NPP. He accused them of cherry-picking issues and lacking national character in their pursuit of transparency.

Hamza pointed out that if the NPP valued accountability, they would address unresolved scandals from their leadership. This includes issues like the Sky Train project and questionable IT contracts.

He plans to file a formal petition about a $25 million contract linked to a former state agency CEO’s family. He asserted that this administration is committed to uncovering the truth.

Additionally, he criticized attempts to politicize a petition against NDC’s National Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi. He argued there is no legal breach involved in this case.

“No part of the Foreign Exchange Act has been violated,” he insisted. He described the petition as an attempt to distract from the NDC's growing influence and Sammy Gyamfi's effectiveness.
