Accra Brewery PLC celebrates water efficiency milestones

Accra Brewery PLC recently celebrated World Water Day on March 21, 2025. They invited key stakeholders to showcase their water efficiency innovations. This annual United Nations observance highlights the importance of freshwater. It raises awareness about the 2.2 billion people without safe water access.

The brewery hosted a half-day event attended by government officials, local media, and NGOs. Senior leadership led the event to demonstrate their commitment to global water challenges. Solomon Ayiah, Head of Legal and Corporate Affairs, emphasized that water is essential for beer production and business operations.

He stated that clean water and healthy communities are vital for their success. Diaan Kruger, Country Director at Accra Brewery, noted efforts to reduce water usage. The company improved its water use efficiency by approximately 15% over the past year.

Accra Brewery PLC is committed to ethical supply chain operations. Their dedication extends beyond operations to positively impact the local economy. The World Water Day event showcased their commitment to water conservation excellence.

AB InBev has implemented key initiatives that benefit local communities worldwide. These include automating raw water tanks and installing smart technologies for water saving. The brewery tour highlighted AB InBev’s commitment to conservation efforts.

Attendees provided positive feedback during interactive demonstrations at the event. They also signed a pledge board to commit to efficient water usage. With growing concerns about water scarcity, Accra Brewery recognizes its responsibility as a major consumer of water.

They aim to lead by example in adopting sustainable practices. Kruger mentioned their goal of achieving net zero by 2040 across their value chain. The educational event concluded with a ‘Moment of Cheers.’
