Accra hit with power cuts as fire erupts at Dzorwulu bulk supply point

Parts of Accra lost power on Sunday, May 4. This happened after a fire broke out at the Dzorwulu Bulk Supply Point. This site is one of the city’s main electricity distribution hubs.

Residents noticed massive clouds of smoke rising from the area. Many people captured the moment on their phones.

Firefighters from the Ghana National Fire Service quickly arrived to help. They are working hard to control the flames and prevent further damage.

The cause of the fire is still unknown. Authorities have sealed off the area for public safety while crews work.

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) confirmed the incident. They noted that it affected power supply in several communities.

In a brief update, ECG stated, “We are doing everything possible to restore electricity.” They assured residents that they would act once it was safe and the fire was under control.

The company also apologized for the unexpected outage. They asked for patience and cooperation during this emergency situation.
