Acting CJ takes full control of case assignment and scheduling

The acting Chief Justice, Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, has made a significant change.

He introduced a new process for handling case filings in Ghana’s superior courts.

A directive dated April 23, 2025, outlines this change.

Now, all new cases and applications must go through his office first.

This directive affects Registrars of the Supreme Court, Courts of Appeal, and High Courts.

Under the new system, all newly filed matters must be presented to him.

He will decide which court and judges will handle each case.

This method centralizes control over case assignments and hearing dates.

It replaces previous procedures for court assignments.

The directive remains in effect until further notice.

Court registrars nationwide must comply strictly with this directive.

This change aims to improve consistency and oversight in the judicial process.
