Actor Koo Ofori arrested for alleged $50k fraud

Ghanaian comic actor Koo Ofori, whose real name is Samuel Seth Kwabena Kyere Karikari, has been arrested. He was taken into custody by the Accra Central Police Command. He allegedly defrauded a US-based Ghanaian of $50,000.

Police sources say Koo Ofori received this money for a fake investment opportunity. He failed to honor the agreement and went into hiding. The victim, who remains unnamed, reported the issue after trying to recover the funds.

Investigations showed that Koo Ofori did not repay the money. He also ignored a summons to appear in court on April 17, 2025. This led to a bench warrant for his arrest.

Koo Ofori was apprehended and is now in custody. His court appearance was initially set for May 9, 2025. However, it was postponed because the court did not sit.

The case is now scheduled for May 12, 2025. Koo Ofori will remain in custody until then. Police have warned the public to be cautious with financial dealings involving large sums and informal agreements.
