Adamu Yakubu confirmed as Sissala East MCE with overwhelming support

The Sissala East Municipal Assembly has confirmed Honourable Adamu Yakubu as its Municipal Chief Executive (MCE). This decision came after a vote on Wednesday, April 16, 2025.

Mr. Yakubu received an impressive 96 percent approval. At the Sissala East Municipal Hall in Tumu, 30 out of 31 Assembly Members voted for him. Only one member voted against his confirmation.

The event featured several dignitaries. They included Upper West Regional Minister Charles Lwanga Puozuing and NDC Regional Chairman Abdul Nasir Saani (Bunas). Also present were Member of Parliament Issah Mohammed Bataglia and local traditional leaders.

In his speech, Mr. Yakubu expressed gratitude for the support he received. He promised to work collaboratively with the MP and other stakeholders for development.

“I am highly grateful to have been confirmed as MCE,” he said. “This opportunity is for everyone in Sissala East to contribute to our area's development.”

He added that he would promote economic, political, and social growth as MCE. He emphasized the need for everyone's support to achieve this agenda.

Honourable Adamu Yakubu is from Bandei. He has served as the NDC’s Youth Organiser in Sissala East. He is also a two-term Assembly Member for the Kpeviara/Yalia Electoral Area.
