Adansi Dompoase accident: Death toll reaches 8

One more person has died in an accident on Tuesday. The crash involved a Mercedes Sprinter van and a VIP Grandbird bus. It occurred along the Bekwai-Fomena Highway in the Ashanti Region.

Seven passengers in the Sprinter van died at the scene. Twelve others were injured, including the VIP bus driver. They were taken to Fomena Government Hospital and St. Benito Hospital in Dompoase.

One of the injured passengers at Fomena Hospital has now died. Another passenger has been referred to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for further treatment.

The National Road Safety Authority conducted a preliminary investigation. They found that the Sprinter van was trying to overtake a Toyota Corolla. This led to a head-on collision with the oncoming VIP Grandbird bus.
