The Minority Members of Parliament have strongly opposed Speaker Alban Bagbin's description of their caucus as a "micro-minority," deeming it inappropriate.

During a parliamentary session on Wednesday, January 8, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin led the protest, asserting that the term undermines their significance.

He stated, "Mr. Speaker, we do not have any micro minority. The minority caucus hereby protests the description given to us by Mr. Speaker."

Afenyo-Markin emphasized the caucus’s critical role in Bagbin's election as Speaker, recalling their resistance to alleged conspiracies by the majority. He added, "We are the minority of conscience."

The Minority Leader urged Speaker Bagbin to refrain from using the term and instead address their caucus as "minority semplicità."
