Joseph Ade Coker, former Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the NDC, supports the IGP's proposal. He believes recruiting youth from Bawku into the police service promotes unity and peace.
On Channel One TV’s Breakfast Daily, he spoke on April 14. He highlighted the need for jobs in Bawku due to high youth unemployment. The decline of agriculture has also contributed to social unrest.
Ade Coker noted that many young people in Bawku are jobless. The area has a high birth rate but few employment opportunities. Traditionally a farming community, drought has hurt agriculture, leaving many idle.
