Ade Coker was politically civilised – Ibrahim Adjei pays tribute

Ibrahim Adjei, former Assistant Secretary to ex-President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, paid tribute to Joseph Ade Coker. Coker was the late Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). Adjei described him as a “politically civilised” man who valued decency in politics.

On Channel One TV’s Breakfast Daily, Adjei expressed his condolences. He reached out to Coker's family, the NDC, and all Ghanaian politicians. "My sincere condolences to his family and loved ones," he said.

Adjei shared that he had known Coker for over 20 years. They often debated political issues but remained friends off-camera. He praised Coker for his integrity and respect for others.

Citi News reported that Joseph Ade Coker passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2025. He died at the Bank Hospital after a short illness. The cause of death has not been officially disclosed.

Sources close to the family indicated it followed a brief health complication. Ade Coker was respected within the NDC and beyond for his bold political stance. He served as Greater Accra Regional Chairman from 2009 until 2022.

In addition to politics, Mr. Coker contributed to sports administration. He was Vice Chairman of the Ghana Football Association during his career.
