National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) officers reportedly raided Alfred Ababio Kumi's home.
This dawn operation took place on Friday. Kumi recently petitioned President John Dramani Mahama. He asked for the dissolution of a committee investigating the Chief Justice's removal.
About eight operatives took Kumi away. His family was left fearful and confused. The officers moved quickly and did not explain their mission or destination.
Kumi's petition accused judicial committee members of improper conduct. He claimed Justices Pwamang, Adibu-Asiedu, and Yonni Kulendi dined with Thaddeus Sory. Sory is the lawyer for the main petitioner.
Kumi alleged that their dinner could compromise the inquiry's impartiality. Authorities have not confirmed his arrest or provided a reason yet. Sources suggest it may relate to sensitive allegations in Kumi’s petition.
Details of these allegations have not been made public. Kumi is believed to be in custody at NIB headquarters in Accra. He is currently undergoing interrogation.
As of now, both the National Intelligence Bureau and the Ministry of National Security have not commented on this situation.
