Residents of Boi Town, a peaceful community in Greater Accra, are in shock. An armed invasion led by Adina Anita Addy has left them terrified. Addy is a civilian woman who allegedly used military personnel to intimidate residents.
On April 25, 2025, armed men in military uniforms stormed the neighborhood. They arrived with bulldozers to demolish hundreds of homes. The soldiers claimed they were following orders from the Jubilee House.
Boi Town has over 500 houses and many residents are civil servants or retirees. The armed group issued death threats to anyone filming or questioning their actions. Terrified residents called the Adenta Police for help.
The police attempted to apprehend the soldiers but they fled with their equipment. Enraged residents chased them as far as Madina, threatening to burn their bulldozers.
Adina Anita Addy and her associates have a history of harassment. They previously used police officers for forceful evictions without court orders. Residents say this abuse of power has been ongoing for months.
Addy and her associates are part of the Graham family, claiming ownership of the land. However, a High Court originally ruled in favor of the Adutso family, who sold portions legally to buyers living there for years.
After losing initially, the Grahams appealed and won at higher courts. They now demand GHC 300,000 per plot from residents—GHC 400,000 if paid within a year. Many residents are retired or live on modest incomes.
Despite attempts to negotiate lower payments, Addy refuses to compromise. Instead, she continues with threats and intimidation backed by military presence.
A third family, the Akoblems, also claims ownership supported by their own court judgment. A Supreme Court case is pending between the Grahams and Akoblems over rightful ownership.
With multiple court judgments and no clear direction from authorities, Boi Town residents feel trapped in a legal battle. Their homes—and lives—are at risk due to individuals like Adina Anita Addy.
Residents have vowed to resist further demolition attempts and seek government intervention for justice.
