Political Analyst Dr. Kwame Asah-Asante has criticized Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. Bawumia is the 2024 Presidential Candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and a former Vice President.
Dr. Asah-Asante spoke on Citi Eyewitness News on April 28, 2025. He urged Bawumia to admit the party's failures instead of shifting blame. He warned that blaming others would harm the NPP.
He said, "They should be bold and say we got it wrong." He emphasized that acknowledging mistakes is essential for integrity. "In politics, there is a day of reckoning," he added.
Dr. Bawumia had previously attributed the NPP’s loss to several factors. These included arrogance of power, high living costs, and failure to reshuffle officials. He also mentioned the E-Levy and controversial haircut policy.
However, Dr. Asah-Asante questioned how the party compiled its post-election report. He wondered if it truly reflected regional and constituency-specific issues affecting voters. "I want to see the instrument they used to collect data," he stated.
He expressed concern about whether the survey addressed local issues adequately. "If it did not elicit responses specific to regions or constituencies, I have a problem," he said.
Dr. Asah-Asante warned that without confronting shortcomings directly, recovery would be difficult for the NPP. "They need to sit down and look at the report," he concluded.
