Adu Anane Antwi chairs reconstituted SEC Board

Dr. Adu Anane Antwi has been appointed as the Chairman of the SEC Governing Board. He is the former Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, inaugurated the board on Monday, May 19.

During the ceremony, Dr. Forson highlighted the SEC's important role in Ghana’s financial stability. He noted that recent economic challenges have raised concerns among citizens. “I am exceedingly pleased to see this board come to life,” he said.

Dr. Forson emphasized accountability and strong regulation. He stated that taxpayers should not suffer from regulatory failures anymore. “The taxpayer cannot continue to be used as a punching bag,” he added.

He urged the new board to protect investors and promote transparency. Dr. Forson expressed confidence in their ability to lead reforms in the capital market. “I believe we will build a renewed, resilient, and investor-friendly capital market,” he remarked.
