Adu Boahen allegedly received GHC 1.5 million monthly from Ghana Water

Attorney General Dr. Dominic Ayine has revealed a criminal operation. This operation involves Kwabena Adu Boahen, the former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), and Ghana Water Limited (GWL).

Dr. Ayine stated that state funds for internet services were misused. These funds were diverted into a private account linked to Adu Boahen and his wife.

“Our investigation team uncovered another scheme by Mr. Adu Boahen,” Dr. Ayine said at a press briefing. He noted this scheme involved GWL.

“This criminal enterprise was about providing secured internet services,” he explained. The services were supposedly provided by the former Bureau of National Communications, now NSB.

Dr. Ayine shared that GWL paid large sums monthly as internet service fees. “Every month, GWL paid GHc1.3 million to Adu Boahen’s company for these services.” This amount increased to GHc1.5 million by the end of their investigation.

The Attorney General described how the payments bypassed state systems. “Adu Boahen gave his company’s account details to Ghana Water,” he said.

“Ghana Water consistently paid for these internet services,” he added. “Every two weeks, GHc650,000 left Ghana Water's account.” Instead of going to NSB, it went to Adu Boahen's company account.
