Adu Boahene's arrest: AG isn't being prejudicial, he always take positions - Srem-Sai

The Deputy Attorney-General, Dr. Justice Srem-Sai, has dismissed claims of bias. This concerns the case against former National Signal Bureau Director, Kwabena Adu Boahene.

On March 24, Dr. Srem-Sai spoke on JoyNews’ PM Express. He defended Dr. Dominic Ayine's claim about strong evidence against Mr. Adu Boahene.

Dr. Srem-Sai stated that the Attorney-General is not neutral in legal cases. He explained that the Attorney-General is a party in these proceedings.

He noted that it is common for Attorneys-General to have a stance on cases they prosecute. They always present their position when taking a case to court.

Concerns were raised about the Attorney-General’s confidence before Mr. Adu Boahene was charged. Members of Parliament from the New Patriotic Party argued this could affect public perception and judicial processes.

Despite these concerns, Dr. Srem-Sai insisted that the Attorney General must take a stance in prosecutions. He said it is normal for an Attorney General to express confidence in securing convictions.

Mr. Adu Boahene and his wife, Angela Adjei Boateng, were arrested recently. This was related to alleged financial misconduct involving a $7 million cyber defense contract.

They have not been formally charged yet but remain in custody while trying to meet bail conditions.
