Adu Boahene and wife yet to be formally charged - Deputy AG

The Deputy Attorney General, Dr. Justice Srem-Sai, spoke on JoyNews’ PM Express. He revealed that Kwabena Adu Boahene and his wife, Angela Adjei Boateng, have not been formally charged. They have been in custody for several days.

Dr. Srem-Sai clarified that the couple is assisting with investigations. They have been cautioned but not officially charged with any crime. He stated, “We will put them before the courts soon.”

He explained that the Attorney General's department has investigated Mr. Boahene's case for weeks. However, they waited to make public statements until verifying facts and confronting the accused.

"We cannot release information unless we are certain of the facts," he said. The AG confirmed some details after arresting those involved.

Mr. Adu Boahene was arrested on March 20 at Kotoka International Airport upon returning from the UK. His wife was arrested the next day, March 21.

Regarding their detention, Dr. Srem-Sai noted they were granted bail but had not met conditions yet. “They are working to satisfy the bail conditions,” he explained.

The former NSB Director faces accusations of embezzling state funds and laundering money through real estate investments. This includes involvement in a $7 million cyber defense system contract.
