Adu-Boahene had nothing to do with the bill – Agalga shoots down GHC 960k bribery allegations

James Agalga, Chairman of Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, denied bribery allegations.

He was accused of accepting GH₵960,000 to support the National Signals Bureau Act, 2020 (Act 1040).

These claims came from a memo by former Director General Kwabena Adu Boahene. Agalga called the accusations “spurious,” “baseless,” and “an act of desperation.”

He clarified that Hon Seth Acheampong was the Committee Chairman during the bill's passage. Agalga served as the Ranking Member at that time.

He noted that the National Signals Bureau did not exist when the bill was considered.

Agalga firmly rejected any involvement from Adu-Boahene in this matter. He stated, “The committee had nothing to do with Adu-Boahene during the passage of the Act.”

His statement aims to protect Parliament's integrity and clarify doubts about Act 1040's legislative process.
