Samuel Atta Akyea is the lawyer for Kwabena Adu-Boahene. Adu-Boahene is the former boss of the National Signals Bureau (NSB). Atta Akyea warned that his client might reveal sensitive national security information. This could happen as part of his legal defense.
Atta Akyea explained that the case may require a full defense. This could involve discussing classified matters. He spoke to reporters outside the courtroom on Tuesday, May 13. He urged caution in managing this case.
He said, “The way national security matters are being raised is serious.” He added that Adu-Boahene needs to understand this situation. He emphasized that his client is not afraid to defend himself. However, he noted that it could lead to public discussions about national security.
Adu-Boahene remains in custody despite a court order expiring. The court had ordered him remanded for seven working days. He faces charges including stealing and money laundering. These charges also include causing financial loss to the state.
Adu-Boahene was originally remanded on Friday, May 2, for witness tampering. On Tuesday, Atta Akyea informed the court of a rearrest after remand ended.
