Kwabena Adu-Boahene, the former Director of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), has been rearrested. This happened shortly after he was granted bail in a GHS49 million cybersecurity procurement case.
His lawyer, Samuel Atta Akyea, shared this news with journalists. The update came after a court hearing at the Accra High Court on May 13, 2025.
The new charge is related to another project involving the Ghana Water Company. Atta Akyea mentioned it concerns secured Internet services for the company. He explained that national security provided equipment to help monitor water pipes remotely.
Atta Akyea expressed concern about what he sees as a targeted approach against his client. He urged fairness and emphasized that Adu-Boahene should be allowed to defend himself. “It should not look like a personal vendetta,” he stated.
This development follows a recent order from Justice John Eugene Nyadu Nyante. The judge instructed the Attorney General’s office to file all witness statements by May 20. He stressed the importance of protecting the accused's personal liberties and urged for an expedited trial process.
