Adum Fire: Otumfuo’s absence delays market rebuild, Minister says

Reconstruction of the Kumasi Central Business District market, devastated by the March 21 fire, has been delayed due to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II’s absence from the country.

Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene confirmed this, stating, “Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the landlord, is currently out of the country. Therefore, the rebuilding of the market cannot start now. However, the government will take the necessary steps when he returns in the interest of the affected traders.”

This comes after businessman Emmanuel Aboagye, known as Aboagye Contractor, handed GH₵500,000 to the minister to support affected traders.

He urged the business community to step in, warning that further delays could worsen the traders’ economic struggles.
