Adutwum to contest for NPP’s 2028 flagbearership?

Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, the former Minister of Education, plans to run for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer position. This is ahead of the 2028 general elections.

He announced his intention on social media platform X. In his post, he wrote, “In the silence of the noise, one man’s record speaks louder than mere campaign chants.” He emphasized that his impact resonates across every region in Ghana.

Adutwum believes his vision can transform Ghana. He referred to this as “#TheAdutwumFactor.” His post has since been deleted but featured a stylized image stating: “The Adutwum Factor: The NPP’s surest bet for victory 2028.”

His announcement follows Kennedy Agyapong's declaration to contest for the same position. Agyapong stated, “I want everybody to know... I’m going to campaign and contest.”

Meanwhile, Yaw Osei Adutwum expressed excitement about no longer being Minister of Education. In an old video shared with JOYNEWS, he said he was thrilled to return and start a new chapter.

He mentioned working hard in parliament for the future of education in Ghana. Adutwum added that he would strive to help shape the nation positively from wherever he serves next.

“It is an exciting time,” he noted about being on the minority side. He aims to be a ranking member of education and contribute significantly to national development.
