Adventist SHS student shot in the eye to receive treatment abroad

A second-year student at Adventist SHS in Bantama was shot in the eye. She is expected to receive medical treatment abroad.

Doctors at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital confirmed severe injuries to her eyes. They advised an urgent surgical operation.

The MP for Bantama shared on Facebook that Suzzy Pinamang's family wants her treated overseas. He has started the process for this.

“Doctors confirmed that Suzzy has suffered severe damage to her eyes. The family wishes to seek advanced treatment abroad,” he stated.

The female student was shot by a male classmate. The incident occurred when he accidentally fired a weapon in class on April 4, 2025.

“I am working with them to obtain travel documents, including her passport and visa,” the MP said. He also contacted Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa for assistance. The minister requested supporting documents from the hospital, which the MP is providing.

He addressed rumors about not helping Suzzy and her family. Mr. Asenso Boakye assured that he regularly checks on them as he expedites her medical care.

“A video surfaced claiming I have not assisted Suzzy’s family,” he explained. He spoke with Suzzy’s brother, Clement, who said the woman in the video is unknown to them and misleading.

He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting Suzzy's recovery. “Our focus must be on securing the best outcome for her,” he concluded.
