Adventist SHS Students Demand Headmistress's Interdiction After Shooting Incident

Some students at Seventh Day Adventist Senior High School are demanding the headmistress's interdiction. This follows a shooting incident on April 4 that injured two students.

The students expressed their concerns to YEN.com.gh, asking for a thorough investigation into school security. They are frustrated about how the shooter entered the school with a gun.

One student questioned, "How did Bernard Amoateng bring a gun into the school?" They believe this indicates poor security measures and accountability from the headmistress, Grace Kafui Ayi.

One of the victims, Suzi Adwoa Penamang, may lose her sight due to her injuries. She was hit by a stray bullet fired accidentally during an argument over the gun’s authenticity.

The shooter is a second-year student who mistakenly pulled the trigger during this altercation. According to Penamang’s family member, Kobby Clement, doctors confirmed permanent blindness in her right eye.

Her left eye is also affected and needs ongoing medical care. The family has been advised to schedule regular checkups for her condition.

The school's management visited Penamang at home in Twedie, Kumasi. They donated GHS1,500 towards her medical treatment and offered support.

Bantama MP Francis Asenso Boakye also helped by covering her hospital bills. He assured the family he would assist with future medical expenses.

Police investigations into the incident are still ongoing. Attempts to contact Headmistress Ayi and officials from the Ghana Education Service for comments were unsuccessful.

Nhyira FM journalist Nana Kwadwo Jantuah threatened legal action against both organizations due to their lack of concern for Penamang's condition.
