Adwumawura initiative targets 40,000 direct jobs in 4 years – Julian Mawuse

Julian Mawuse Cobbinah chairs the NDC Youth Manifesto Committee. He announced plans to support 10,000 youth-led businesses each year. This initiative aims to reduce youth unemployment and boost economic activity.

Cobbinah spoke on Channel One Newsroom on May 4. He highlighted the potential impact of this program if implemented fairly and transparently.

The John Mahama Government believes it can create these businesses annually. If each business employs ten young people, that totals 100,000 jobs in four years. This figure only accounts for direct employment.

He emphasized that only deserving individuals would receive support. Strong measures will prevent partisan interference in business support allocation.

“The people who will get the support must merit it,” Cobbinah stated. He criticized past systems that favored partisanship over meritocracy.

A credible process is essential for awarding business support, he added. A merit-based system will help young entrepreneurs who truly need assistance.

The Adwumawura Programme targets young people aged 18 to 35. It will be central to the NDC’s job creation and youth empowerment efforts, fostering innovation and a vibrant private sector.
