Member of Parliament for Effutu, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, emphasized the need for meritocracy in Ghana. He spoke at the Kwahu Business Forum on April 19.
Afenyo-Markin expressed concern about politicizing youth empowerment initiatives. He urged a shift towards recognizing talent and creativity over party loyalty.
"We must examine how we extend opportunities to the youth," he said. "Support should not depend on party colors but on potential and drive."
He warned that building the future on political favoritism could hinder progress. National development relies on fairness and equal opportunity for all citizens.
"Ghana's future cannot be based on partisan loyalty; it must focus on merit," he stated. "Those who deserve opportunities should receive them, regardless of political affiliation."
This approach fosters competition and drives national progress, according to Afenyo-Markin. The Kwahu Business Forum is an important platform for policymakers, entrepreneurs, and investors. It aims to explore strategies for economic growth in Ghana and Africa.
