Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has strongly countered allegations labeling Freemasonry as an occultic society, clarifying that it is deeply rooted in Christian teachings.

Speaking on JoyNews on February 2, Afenyo-Markin addressed the public's concerns following his questioning of George Opare Addo’s Masonic membership during a vetting session.

He explained that Freemasonry's teachings are aligned with Christian principles, specifically the New Testament, emphasizing Christ’s sacrifices.

He dismissed the notion that Freemasonry is a secret cult, highlighting that members must profess Christianity to advance within the organization.

Afenyo-Markin also pointed out the moral teachings of Mark Masonry, which promotes humility and respect for all people, reinforcing that Freemasonry is not in conflict with Christian beliefs.
