Afetsi Awoonor awarded for outstanding leadership in Energy and Social Development

On May 10, 2025, the Millennium Excellence Foundation honored Afetsi Awoonor. The ceremony took place at Manhyia Palace. Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, was the patron.

Awoonor received the Millennium Excellence Award for Leadership. This award recognized his contributions to Ghana’s energy sector and philanthropy.

He is the Managing Director of Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST). Awoonor is a respected figure in Africa’s energy and development sectors.

Previously, he served as Chairman of JBW Limited, which he founded in 2013. He has held leadership roles with multinational firms across sub-Saharan Africa.

The award highlights his leadership in transforming Ghana’s energy landscape. It also acknowledges his work through the Afetsi Awoonor Foundation. This organization empowers Ghanaian youth to be self-sufficient and economically resilient.

Awoonor has academic credentials from prestigious institutions worldwide. These include the Graduate Institute in Geneva and the French Institute of Petroleum. He is also an international thought leader and conference speaker.

His work has taken him to stages in Switzerland, the USA, UK, Kenya, and South Africa.

The Foundation's citation praised his dedication to Ghana’s energy sector and social development. It stated that he is a respected figure in business and philanthropy.

This recognition cements Awoonor’s legacy as a transformative leader. His vision continues to guide efforts toward a prosperous and inclusive Africa.
