Aflao MoMo vendor’s killing: 65-year-old father of key suspect arrested; 8 now in custody

The Ghana Police Service has arrested another suspect in the robbery and murder of mobile money vendor Christopher Ahordor. This incident took place in Aflao, Volta Region.

With this latest arrest, the total number of suspects in custody is now eight. The arrests followed coordinated operations by the Volta Regional Police Command and the Anti-Armed Robbery Unit from Accra.

The new suspect, 65-year-old Happy Sewordor, was arrested on May 18, 2025. He was taken into custody around 2:00 a.m. Happy is believed to be the father of Michael Sewornu, who was previously arrested.

On May 22, police reported that several weapons were found at Happy's home. These included four single-barrel cap guns, a locally made pistol, and 15 empty cartridges. They also discovered suspected Indian hemp and Tramadol.

Preliminary investigations suggest that Happy collected these items from his son Michael's house in Aflao. Happy Sewordor appeared in court on May 21 and was remanded into prison custody. He will return to court on June 16, 2025.

In related news, three other suspects were arrested for their involvement in this case. Hadi Sulley (22), Ewe Abraham (25), and Eric Dordzinu (25) were taken into custody by the Anti-Armed Robbery Unit on May 12, 2025. They were transferred to the Volta Regional Command on May 14 and arraigned on May 19.

These three suspects are also remanded in prison custody until June 16, 2025. Earlier arrests included Korku Agboada, Utsuku Onyeso, and Michael Sewornu; they remain in custody as well. A fourth suspect, Atsu Agbagla, received police enquiry bail while investigations continue.

The Volta Regional Police Command thanked the public for their cooperation during investigations. They expressed gratitude for ongoing support against crime in the region.

Investigations into Christopher Ahordor's killing are still ongoing; it occurred on April 28, 2025.
