The Ghana Police Service has arrested four people. They are connected to the killing of a Mobile Money vendor in Aflao, Volta Region.
On 12 May 2025, the Volta Regional Police Command issued a statement. The suspects were caught during a joint operation on 10 May.
This operation involved several units. These included the Regional Police Intelligence Department, SWAT Unit, and Operation Motherland Taskforce. A local group called ‘ACTION NOW’ also participated.
The arrested individuals are Michael Sewornu, 34; Korku Agboada, 43; Atsu Agbagla, 36; and Utsuku Onyeso, 22. Utsuku is a Nigerian national. They are helping police with ongoing investigations.
The incident happened on the evening of 28 April 2025 at about 6:15 p.m. Five armed men shot Christopher Ahordo, a mobile money vendor. This occurred at Gbagblakope near the Diamond Cement factory.
The attackers escaped with a bag believed to contain cash. The suspects will appear in court on Tuesday, 13 May 2025.
