The 2025 Africa Makeup and Beauty Fair opened on Friday, April 18. It is taking place at Afrikiko Leisure Centre in Accra.
This three-day fair is in its 9th year. It brings together top brands from the makeup and beauty industry. Hundreds of exhibitors from Ghana and other African countries are participating.
The theme for this year is "Thrive: Nurturing Brands & Innovation in a Changing Climate."
During the opening ceremony, there was a fashion show featuring elegant hairstyles. The American Global Dance Group also performed, entertaining the guests.
Notable attendees included Mr. Gideon Aryeequaye, Acting Executive Secretary of Creative Arts Agency, musician Becca, and actress Martha Ankomah.
The program for the next three days includes panel discussions. Experts will discuss Green Beauty, Eco-Fashion, Networking, Business Development, and Wellness.
Rebecca Donkor is the Chief Executive of Makeup Ghana and an event organizer. She spoke at the opening ceremony about the fair's progress over nine years.
She noted that the Africa Makeup and Beauty Fair has become more than just an event. It serves as a thriving ecosystem for African beauty and wellness brands to connect globally.
Over the years, it has seen innovations in eco-conscious production and inclusive beauty standards. These changes continue to transform the industry.
Rebecca highlighted that the platform promotes networking, learning, and showcasing African excellence worldwide.
She explained that this year's theme encourages creativity and resilience among industry players. Sustainable practices are essential for driving innovation as the industry evolves.
