‘Africa’s education should focus on research, innovation’

Higher education in Africa should prioritize research and innovation. This focus is essential for addressing complex global challenges on the continent.

Dr. Kojo Appiah, Founder and Chairman of the African Network INC, made this statement. He emphasized that education and research must target specific issues. These include climate change, food insecurity, and pandemics.

Dr. Appiah is also a member of the Africa Higher Education Centres of Excellence (ACE). He warned that climate change poses significant threats to Africa. Drought, erratic rainfall, and fires will worsen these challenges.

He spoke at the conclusion of a three-day conference in Accra. The conference focused on research and innovation in Africa.
