The African American Association of Ghana (AAAG) will host a health and wellness fair. This event aims to raise awareness and empower individuals. It focuses on physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
The “2025 Community Health Fair” is set for Sunday, May 4, 2025. It will take place at the W.E.B. DuBois Center in Cantonments, Accra. The fair runs from 10 am until dusk.
Activities include free health screenings and wellness workshops. There will also be a marketplace with local vendors. Families can enjoy exciting activities together.
This initiative highlights the contributions of the diaspora to Ghana’s development. The AAAG aims to support the growth of Ghana’s health sector. They promote cultural exchange focused on shared wellness goals.
Shannan Akosua Magee, President of AAAG, spoke about the event's purpose. She hopes it will bridge gaps in health education and action for the underprivileged.
“This is more than just a fair,” she said. “It’s a space where community meets care.” The goal is to create a platform for quality wellness resources and connections.
Ms. Magee encourages participation from health professionals and NGOs. She emphasizes exposing people to healthier lifestyle options.
“We believe everyone deserves access to information that improves lives,” she added. “This event makes that access easy, fun, and inclusive.”
The health fair comes at an important time for Ghana. The country faces rising cases of hypertension, diabetes, and mental health issues.
Through this initiative, the AAAG Health Fair supports the Ministry of Health's efforts for community engagement and wellness promotion.
