Afrobarometer: Low trust in EC depressing -Franklin Cudjoe

Franklin Cudjoe, President of IMANI Africa, has raised alarm over declining public trust in Ghanaian institutions, particularly the Electoral Commission and Judiciary.

His concern follows an Afrobarometer report by the Center for Democratic Development (CDD), revealing a historic drop in confidence in institutions crucial for democracy.

Cudjoe expressed disappointment, noting that 65% of Ghanaians lack trust in the courts, while only 28% trust the Electoral Commission. He urged a shift in public perception and a focus on policy reforms.

The report highlights that, despite government changes, distrust in democratic institutions has deepened since 2012, with widespread perceptions of corruption.
