Ghanaian media personality and singer Afua Asantewaa has missed the Guinness World Record for the longest individual singing marathon. This follows a review of her second attempt by record officials.
The Guinness World Records (GWR) team confirmed that her attempt was invalidated. They cited violations of the official rest break guidelines.
According to GWR rules, participants can take 5 minutes of rest for every hour of performance. However, Afua’s team breached this rule in two instances.
First, at 23:25 during sequence 19, she took a 15-minute break instead of 5 minutes. Later, during sequence 21, she took a 105-minute break when she had only earned 10 minutes of rest time.
These violations made it impossible for GWR to approve her attempt. Fairness and strict adherence to rules are essential for validating all record claims.
Despite this setback, Afua Asantewaa remains optimistic. She expressed gratitude to Ghanaians and global supporters for their encouragement during both attempts.
“It’s been a challenging yet rewarding journey,” she said. “Exploring my potential on this platform has brought growth and discovery.”
She also thanked her team and sponsors, including Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and other corporate sponsors.
Though this is her second unsuccessful attempt, Afua Asantewaa believes her journey is not over.
