Afua Asantewaa’s second Guinness World Record Singathon attempt disqualified

Ghanaian journalist and tourism ambassador Afua Asantewaa Aduonum has faced disappointment. Her second attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the longest individual singing marathon was disqualified.

On Thursday, May 8, she issued a press release about the outcome. Afua described her effort as “unsuccessful.” She shared excerpts from an email by the Guinness World Records team. The email explained why her attempt could not be validated.

Despite this setback, Afua expressed gratitude for the experience. She noted that it had a profound impact on her personal and professional growth. “This journey has brought discovery, growth, and development,” she stated.

Afua thanked her sponsors, partners, and supporters for their encouragement. Her first attempt also ended unsuccessfully but garnered national pride and admiration. Her resilience continues to inspire many across Ghana.
