The Acting Chief Justice, Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, has issued a new directive.
All newly filed cases and applications must go to his office. This is for assignment and scheduling in superior courts.
The directive is dated April 23, 2025. It was communicated through the Deputy Judicial Secretary. It applies to Registrars of the High Courts, Courts of Appeal, and the Supreme Court.
According to the memo, all fresh filings must be reported to the Acting Chief Justice. This will help with court assignments and judge empanelling when needed.
The directive also includes fixing dates for hearings. This centralizes scheduling under the Chief Justice's supervision.
The memo states that this approach overrides previous guidelines on court assignments. It remains in effect until further notice.
Court registrars across the country must strictly follow this new order.
