Kwame Agbodza, Member of Parliament for Adaklu and Roads and Highways minister nominee, has advised young Ghanaians aspiring to enter politics to first secure a steady job.
He emphasized that MPs’ salaries alone are insufficient to cover the various daily expenses that come with the role.
“Before you become a full-time politician, get a day job that you can continue even while serving,” he said in response to a question from Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin.
Agbodza explained that his political salary, which is GHS 15,000, quickly gets spent attending community events, and much of his financial support for his constituency comes from his consultancy work and other ventures.
“My advice to young people is to first secure a sustainable day job before entering politics,” he added.
